The Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP), also known as diversion or plea and pass agreement, began when the University of Iowa’s Women’s Resource and Action Center received a grant in 1977 to explore the problem of domestic violence in the community. The DVIP ultimately expanded and many communities in other states around the nation began to use the DVIP as a model for the services they could provide.
Florida has a number of different programs for the victims of domestic violence. Multiple service centers throughout the state provide a variety of resources to women, children, and other victims of domestic violence.
