Mr. Phil Glenn joined Meltzer & Bell, P.A., in 2017. Mr. Glenn was born and raised in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Following his graduation from high school, Mr. Glenn attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2007. Mr. Glenn then attended Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, and he graduated with honors in 2010. While at Washington & Lee, Mr. Glenn served initially as a Staff Writer and ultimately as the Lead Articles Editor for the Washington & Lee Law Review. Also while at Washington & Lee, Mr. Glenn participated in a legal clinic the purpose of which was to assist attorneys across Virginia in the representation of defendants facing capital murder charges and defendants who had already been sentenced to death. As part of his work for the clinic, Mr. Glenn authored an approximately 50-page Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States, and he either wrote or assisted in writing several briefs to the Supreme Court of Virginia, as well as numerous motions which were filed in the trial courts.
Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Glenn accepted a job with the Public Defender’s Office in Palm Beach County, where he began working in November 2010. Mr. Glenn began his career at the Public Defender’s Office in the misdemeanor division, where he tried numerous cases to jury verdict over the span of approximately 1 ½ years. He then moved up to the felony division, and ultimately to the Serious Crimes division. In the Serious Crimes division, Mr. Glenn handled almost exclusively cases in which his client was facing mandatory life in prison without parole and cases which garnered heavy media coverage. Mr. Glenn tried countless cases to jury verdict, and he obtained several Not Guilty verdicts for his clients, preventing them from being sentenced to years, decades, or even life in prison. During his time at the Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Glenn tried approximately 75-100 cases to jury verdict, ranging from DUI to first degree murder.
After spending several years at the trial level, Mr. Glenn spent a few months in the appellate division at the Public Defender’s Office, where he wrote appellate briefs and post-conviction motions for clients who had been found guilty at trial. After a few months in the appellate division, Mr. Glenn left the Public Defender’s Office and moved to South Carolina, where he had been offered a job at a personal injury law firm. After a few months of working in civil law, Mr. Glenn realized that his passion was for criminal defense, and when he was offered a position as an associate attorney at Meltzer & Bell, P.A., in early 2017, Mr. Glenn jumped at the chance to return to South Florida and to resume working for those who have been charged with crimes by the government. Mr. Glenn is a welcome addition to our firm, as he shares our common goal of providing the absolute highest level of representation to any person charged with a crime.
...A long weekend vacation in Palm Beach resulted in the potential for serious consequences that could have set me back in unimaginative ways. M+B was a truly incredible legal advocate and was always accessible within minutes to answer questions and discuss the progress of the case within the system - truly remarkable. I could not have retained better legal representation in my case in Palm Beach County.
I just had to commend you on the outstanding job you did on behalf of your client in court yesterday. If my clients were ever to ask me if I know of a good DUI defense attorney, I know to whom I can refer them!
I was facing hard prison time and punishment. [Larry] did everything to pull strings and get me into rehab. After meeting with many therapists I finally got one to diagnose me successfully with Bipolar. Thanks to Larry I have been sober since 6/19/09. My health is great and my family life is amazing. It's because he saw something in me and my family that I wasn't just an alcoholic there was something that told me it was something else.
I was charged with a felony and facing the scary thought of losing my job, but thank you Attorney Steven Bell for helping me. Now I’m able to keep my job and take care of my family. I am truly amazed by your service, and you for understanding what I have to deal with. To me I’m very impressed by way you handled my case and was here to listen and make things OK!
Mr. Steven Bell, Words cant explain how thankful I am for you and your firm. I was facing felony charges and even looking at doing 5 years in jail! Not only did you fight for me, you got my case dismissed and dropped. For that, I don't have words to say “thank you” you were always kind and believed in me. You looked for every opportunity and you won! Thank you for being my guardian angel in disguise and steering me in the right direction. You are forever my “too go guy” thank you soooo much!
